Ice Blue Batik Silk Scarf with Hand-Beaded Trim 8"x52" Hand dyed, hand applied wax batik hand beaded silk scarf. Single dye process includes brush techniques. Colors include icy blue with white flowers. Beading includes silver bugle and seed beads and blue seed beads. Size is versatile for various neck options, waist and head. Evidence of early examples of batik have been found in the Far East, Middle East, Central Asia and India from over 2000 years ago. Batik applications include wearable art, interior treatments, wall hangings, and has become wildly popular within the quilting community. This process of waxing and dyeing can be repeated with many colors to create elaborate and colorful designs. With each of my batik pieces wax is applied by hand with one of several tools. Depending on the technique and look I am trying to achieve varying blends of beeswax and paraffin are used. Color may be slightly different than computer image. Each piece is one of a kind but I can repeat a technique in a different color combination. Message me for more information. I use quality silk and cotton fabrics and the dyes used actually bond molecularly with the fabric which creates brilliant colors that do not fade with washing.
